Maurice clarified and updated: "Best Of" is scheduled for May. I suppose that is world-wide. B-sides will be somewhere later this year. Nothing precise is known, not the song selection, not the date. It is not unlikely that the upcoming Birthday Party live album and the B-sides album will lead to one delaying the other. I wouldn't be surprised if one of these won't happen before 1999. |

From The Times (UK), via Oliver: Self help guide to books of the Bible TWELVE books of the King James Bible are to be published as individual works in their own right, with introductions by authors such as Doris Lessing and the American Steven Rose. Will Self has written an introduction to Revelation and Louis de Bernieres has introduced Job. A.S. Byatt has written on the erotic poem, Song of Solomon, while Lessing covers Ecclesiastes. The American Charles Johnson and Australian singer and songwriter Nick Cave are writing on other books, including Proverbs, Genesis, Exodus and the Gospels. Canongate Books of Edinburgh has sold the German rights for a six-figure sum. A similar deal is expected in this country. A spokesman said: "Presenting the books as separate works, as they began their existence, reverses a process that began nearly 2,000 years ago, and allows them to be read as individual works." |

From Mute Records: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have been confirmed as co-headliners with Pulp on the main stage at the Glastonbury Festival on Sunday 28th June. This show is their first official UK appearance since last summers two sell out concerts at The Royal Albert Hall and is their first UK festival appearance since Glastonbury 1994. To celebrate the release of the album 'The Best Of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' and the accompanying video compilation on 11th May, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will be playing a special free concert at the LA2, Charing Cross Road, London W1 on Sunday 10th May. Access to the LA2 show is strictly by ticket only and a very limited number of tickets will be available at the venue on the night, on a first come first served basis. Henrik Gustafsson As you probably remember, BBC's Mark Radcliffe and Marc Riley did parody versions of Wild Roses and Henry Lee. I do not, however, remember anybody mentioning their album "The Shirehorses present the worst...album in the world...ever...EVER!". It is out on Warner, cat.nr. 3984-20851-2. It contains the Cave parodies, DICK CAVE & THE BAD CHEESE feat. RILEY MINOGUE: hapless boy lard and DICK CAVE & THE BAD CHEESE feat. ALAN BAWL (NO RELATION): the ballad of franny lee. The album's running time is only 32:59. Some other "bands" on the album are THE RA-GNOMES, FRANK SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION and PO-FASIS. Buy it if you're into that sort of humour. I had a few laughs listening to it! |

While the venue and country to host the show have not yet been determined, Fariss indicated that the event would likely take place in London or Australia. According to the BBC, Elton John, Bono, Aretha Franklin, Tom Jones, David Bowie, Nick Cave and Iggy Pop have all been contacted and asked to perform at the concert, which could evolve into a benefit for Hutchence's daughter, Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily, who will be two years old later this month. |

This will be over by the 27th. The day after that Nick will perform a solo concert, just voice and piano, and do a summary lecture (topic: love poetry & song). In case someone else wants to go also: the AKADEMIETHEATER WIEN operates a ticket-hotline (just like the ticketmaster) where you can get tickets starting from As200,- (which like I 'm told is about $18).
